Aquatic food systems play a crucial role in providing billions with essential protein and nutrients, as well as livelihoods and other services, assisting society in overcoming hunger, malnutrition and poverty. This role is set to grow and if we want aquatic food systems to deliver on their promise, we need to change the way we produce, process, trade and consume our food. This can be achieved by transformative action in fisheries, aquaculture and value chains.
