Protecting Our Supply, Preserving Our Industry – Please Renew Your 2026 CFSI Membership Today

The challenges facing the California seafood industry – from legislative pressure to regulatory complexity – are evolving rapidly. In this environment, the California Fisheries and Seafood Institute (CFSI) remains your strongest line of defense and your loudest advocate in Sacramento.

We are writing to remind you that your membership with CFSI is up for renewal.

By renewing today, you ensure that our industry retains its collective strength to protect, promote, and grow California’s seafood sector. Whether you are a harvester, processor, distributor, importer, or allied partner, your investment in CFSI directly fuels the fight to keep seafood on the plates of consumers and businesses thriving. Think of CFSI as your insurance coverage.

Why Your Renewal is Critical

CFSI is the only statewide trade association working daily to protect the rights of the public to access seafood. Your dues support these vital initiatives:

  • Aggressive Legislative Advocacy: We actively review every bill introduced in the California legislature that impacts importers, processors, distributors, and the grocery/restaurant industries. We stand firm against measures that would restrict the free flow of imported species or ban commercial fishing. We support aquaculture as a key and necessary augmentation to the seafood supply.
  • Regulatory Representation: We maintain essential working relationships with the California Department of Public Health Food and Drug Branch, Department of Fish and Wildlife, CalEPA, and the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment that administers Prop 65 to navigate industry issues before they become crises.
  • Fighting Unwarranted Costs: CFSI is dedicated to fighting unwarranted increases in fees and taxes on seafood, both domestic and imported, protecting your bottom line.
  • Science & Safety: We actively support and advocate for the work of the UC and USC Sea Grant Programs, the UC Davis Seafood Technology Department, and NOAA FishWatch to advance resource management and seafood safety.

The Value of Your Membership

Beyond advocacy, your continued membership ensures you stay connected and influential:

  • Weekly Intelligence: Receive our weekly newsletter, SeaNotes with the latest regulatory updates, industry news, and legislative alerts.
  • Visibility: Submit articles for publication on our website and newsletter to share your expertise with the broader community.
