NOAA Fisheries and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued a final rule revising the listing for green sea turtles under the Endangered Species Act. The rule will divide the global population into 11 distinct population segments. It will also reclassify turtles from two breeding populations from “endangered” to “threatened,” reflecting evidence of successful conservation efforts in Florida and the Pacific coast of Mexico.
