In 2019, we are accomplishing even more, including our efforts to fight against the destructive agenda of extreme ENGOs and regulatory threats that would negatively impact your business. Please keep in mind that we can’t do it without the generous contributions of company leaders like you.
Right now, and in the next two months (August and September) we must fight draconian packaging legislation regarding single use food packaging. As we write this there is a huge legislative effort (via SB 54, Allen, and AB 1080, Gonzales Fletcher) to require an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) fee on all producers of single use packaging paper or plastic. We are seeking an exemption for food packaging. But we need financial help to get the word out to key members of the legislature and the governor.
We are also fighting to stop the negative effects of AB 5 (Gonzales-Fletcher) on the fishing, trucking, and other independent contractors, those to whom you may issue a 1099. AB 5 would change state law so that practice of paying an independent contractor (think anyone that performs a service substantially similar to an employee such as boat crew working for a share of the catch vs. minimum wage, workers comp, health benefits, and force that crew on fishing boats). But the bill would also would apply to independent truckers, maintenance companies, independent insurance agents, freight forwarders, and more.
