The 71st Pacific Fisheries Technologists Conference (PFT) convenes aboard the Queen Mary Hotel in Long Beach CA during March 1-4, 2020. Ongoing plans will bring an exciting lineup of plenary speakers to stimulate new thinking and discussions across a multitude of technical, scientific, and ecological topics of importance to the seafood and aquaculture industries worldwide. Committed volunteers from industry, academia and government organize the yearly conference in a six-year rotation between: Alaska, British Columbia, California, Mexico, Oregon and Washington. PFT is of particular interest to seafood professionals such as processors, retailers, food service managers, university researchers and outreach staff, consumer educators, and food inspectors who work with fish and fish products at the basic and applied levels.
PFT facilitates the exchange of scientific information among fisheries technologists, and those interested in current seafood technology, safety and quality issues. Discussions of technical seafood topics and the formation of collaborations between research institutes, universities, and governmental agencies occur at PFT.
